Agnico Eagle Invests in the Future of Canada’s Healthcare System
In April 2017, the company donated over $4 million to the St. Michael’s Foundation to build the Agnico Eagle Cardiac Surgery Operating Room and the Agnico Eagle Oncology Unit in the brand new Peter Gilgan Patient Care Tower at the St. Michael’s Hospital in Toronto, one of Canada’s leading medical and research centres.
Agnico Eagle’s Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jim Nasso, pointed out the unique relationship Agnico Eagle has fostered with St. Michael’s (located a few blocks from our headoffice) over the years. “We have a special connection to the hospital because doctors at the hospital have helped save some of our staff’s lives. We are so thankful to them.”
Agnico Eagle’s substantial investment helped kick start the most successful fundraising campaign in St. Michael’s history, enabling the Foundation to exceed its fundraising target by $27 million to a record-setting total of $235 million.
