Agnico Eagle is a strong supporter of diversity within our workforce and throughout society.  We implement programs to promote gender equality, including efforts to recruit and retain female employees, and we support training and education opportunities focused on women in the areas where we operate.

Working for a Sustainable Future:

Agnico Eagle has over 4,800 permanent employees at our mine operations. Women represent 15% of our permanent operating workforce.

Women represent approximately

  • 9% of our permanent workforce in Quebec
  • 18% of our permanent workforce in Nunavut
  • 17% of our permanent workforce in Mexico
  • 13% of our permanent AEM workforce in Finland

We continue to review our global corporate policies and benefits programs with the goal of raising the bar for diversity and inclusion at Agnico Eagle and across the mining industry. At the site level, we are studying our policies and accommodation programs to improve and remove barriers to diversity in our workforce.

Labor & Workforce Equality Certifications: Our Mexican Operations first received its “Gender Equity Model” certification granted by the National Institute for Women in 2009 -- the first mining company to obtain such certification. This certification system is now transitioning to a model known as "Standard 025 of Labor Equality and Non-Discrimination”, which will be led by various federal government agencies, including the National Institute for Woman and the National Commission to Eradicate Discrimination. We anticipate receiving this new certification by the end of the first quarter of 2017.
